High school students entering the college admissions process have put thousands of hours into their schoolwork and extracurriculars. They’ve put hundreds of hours into getting to know the teachers writing their recommendations. Some have put dozens of hours into SAT or ACT prep. The one remaining piece, and in some ways the most important piece of all, is the college application essays.

College essays are applicants’ one opportunity to share their voice, to tell their story, to become more than just numbers and a resume. Essays allow students to share their unique passions and personality, to relay seminal life developments, and to demonstrate their writing ability.

But the essays are no easy feat. A creative personal essay is a unique genre of writing, requiring a completely different approach than the 5-paragraph academic essays and longer research papers that students are accustomed to.

We’re here to help.

College Essay Packages

Personal Statement Package

The most important aspect of preparing college applications is writing the personal statement, an open-ended 650-word essay that is part of the Common App and accepted by the vast majority of U.S. colleges.

With the Personal Statement Package, we’ll help each student craft a strong personal statement that is completely unique; the best essay is the one that only one person in the world could have written. We’ll work with students to brainstorm effective topics, elicit the most compelling anecdotes, derive maximum benefit from a cohesive organizational structure, and polish the essay until it impresses. The Personal Statement Package includes unlimited rounds of comments, edits, cuts, restructures, etc. We will work with you until you are 100% satisfied with your essay.

Each student will work directly with one essay coach, and the essay process will be overseen by both an essay manager and Eric, our founder. Thus, the student benefits from developing a consistent rapport with one individual essay coach, while the student’s essay benefits from the insight of 3 essay experts.

Personal Statement Package: $950.

Supplemental Essays Package (Unlimited)

In addition to the Personal Statement, many colleges require applicants to submit supplemental essays. These supplemental essays ask students to respond to a wide variety of topics: their most meaningful activity, their interest in a particular college or major, an important community they belong to, etc.

With the Supplemental Essays Package, we will work with students on ALL of their supplemental essays, from start to finish. This package includes an unlimited number of college essays. We’ll help students organize essay prompts, brainstorm essay topics, outline, draft, revise, and polish. We’ll assess opportunities for students to adapt their ideas to multiple prompts for maximum efficiency. This package includes unlimited rounds of comments, edits, cuts, restructures, etc, for as many supplemental essays as the student needs.

Each student will work directly with one essay coach, and the essay process will be overseen by both an essay manager and Eric, our founder. Thus, the student benefits from developing a consistent rapport with one individual essay coach, while the student’s essay benefits from the insight of 3 essay experts.

The Supplemental Essay Package is best for students applying to a significant number of highly selective colleges, which tend to require a lot of supplemental essays.

Supplemental Essay Package: $2950.

Hourly Options

While we strongly recommend that nearly all essay students start with the Personal Statement Package, we also offer an hourly option. Many of the benefits of the packages are not included in hourly essay coaching, notably oversight. Hourly students benefit from their essay coach’s insight, but don’t receive additional feedback and oversight from an essay manager and Eric. Contact us to discuss your student’s situation and the best essay plan for them.

Hourly Essay Coaching: $120/hr.

"Eric was invaluable in my son’s college application process. The outcome was fantastic: my son earned a perfect score on the ACT and was accepted to his first choice (top-tier) school ED.

In addition, Eric made the process as stress-free as possible for me. He started us off with a timeline for the process and then followed through on each step along the way. From the initial consultation to the final essay-writing, the process was seamless. I was able to enjoy the college tours and search process with my son because I knew Eric had the preparation and application under control.

The cost was also extremely reasonable, in part because he recommended a test prep strategy that was more efficient (and substantially less costly) than taking an in-person course. We can’t thank him enough for his help and we whole-heartedly recommend him to our friends."

-Admissions Consulting Student, Upper Dublin HS
"Eric Hahn started out as our kids' SAT tutor. He became so much more. He mentored them through the college process. Eric helped them create meaningful college essays that helped them stand out. He provided consulting and editing skills throughout the application and essay process. Eric helped the kids learn to navigate through the common app and the specific college on-line application websites. He helped us understand the high school guidance website and information requirements for college recommendation letters and internal school forms.

In addition, he helped the kids think about where they would like to go to school based on their interests and goals. The college process can be overwhelming especially with two children starting at the same time. Eric was not only a mentor for our students he was a guide for us as parents. He is someone that the kids can relate to and has a professional and mature demeanor to communicate well with parents."

-Mother of Students, Upper Dublin HS Class of 2015
"Professional group of tutors, great communication and no issues with scheduling. Eric was especially helpful in reviewing my son's essay and provided some great input and guidance."
